Post by myrrth sicopath »

Every time I try running Modkeen it gives me this message:

Load error: no DPMI - Get csdpmi*b.zip

Where do I find this file? Is it absolutely necessary?

As far as I know, that message appears when you're trying to run ModKeen in "pure" DOS.

Anyways, here's the file:

Thanks- I found the file by Googleing it. I just have to come back and say... ModKeen is the greatest program I have ever seen. Better, in fact, than Windows. :D

^ Yah, you're right about that. :)
I haven't had that problem before, but good to know now what to do if it appears.

Yeah, for some time is was annoyed that I had to start up Windows to run ModKeen (I nearly always work in pure DOS), and then one day I thought "What the hell - maybe I'll try to get my hands on that file it mentions ..." and the rest is history.

Whoops -- I'd meant to include cwsdpmi in the modkeen2 zip file, but it appears that I forgot, and also forgot to mention it in the readme. Well, it's documented now :)

Indeed wise words. I'd be happy if a virus wiped windows out of existence and all we had was DOS. * Dreams *

I hate not having a GUI at my fingertips. I prefer Win95/98, where I can multitask and work faster in general. DOS is slow and does not let me multitask. I couldn't survive without multitasking.

What we need is KeenOS, a Linux distribution especially designed for Keen modding and playing. ;) *hint some_good_coder hint*

KeenOS

Of course, many Keen tools are now 32-bit Windows programs. Porting them would need someone who knows Linux programming languages, which are different because they have different API calls and such.

Does anyone have a different link to the file? It took me to a website from Finland, like it said in the link, but i obviously can't read that language. Any english, safe links?

http://www.delorie.com/pub/djgpp/current/v2misc/

There are two versions there; 5 and 7. 7 is from this year, and I imagine it should work fine. But if there are any problems there just grab 5.
