Yeah, document is must. Maybe somekind of "tutorial-level" like in Bazooka Wowbagger mod would be nice.

Hmm... I tried doing a 16x16 frozen Keen once. Although, I had problems when he turned back to normal... 16 pixels of him would be above the ground he was on, the rest of him was in it.

Perhaps if the actual bitmap size was of a height of 24, but you only used the top 16?

Na'ah... that won't do it. Even if you made the sprite 24 tall and just used the top/bottom part of it, the collision boxes work based off the upper left corner. So you'd always end up with Keen's feet stuck in the ground--the only way to avoid it would be to have a pixel of black way up high or some other graphical fancy to keep the upper left corner in the same place for all sprites.
