Hexediting Question

Post by levellord »

Can someone help out a newbie? Does anyone know where in the EGALATCH.CK2 file the bitmaps stop ans the tiles start at, and what sequence signifies this?

The EGAHEAD file specifies the number of bitmaps and tiles, and the locations of them within the EGALATCH file.

I can find plenty about sprites, but nothing on the tiles!

Edit: Good news! commander keen handles extra tiles very well, so far all I've got is background as tileinfo doesn't like subscript out of range.

Bad news! A tileset larger than usual comes out as gibberish; you can have extra tiles but you can't make sense of what they look like.

The EGAHEAD file specifies the number of tiles in the EGALATCH file, so they both need to match. If you download ModKeen, and look at the source code (in the src.zip file), you'll find the definition of the EGAHEAD structure.

Great! I see the problem; could you post an EGAHEAD.CK2 file for 858 tiles (13 by 66 rows.)
