SGA Tiles

Post by lemm » Sun Jul 12, 2009 10:29 am

are there going to be standard galactic alphabet tiles?

if yes, are they going to be engraved like the wooden exit sign?

I vote yes, because every keen mod needs sga signs to decipher just for fun.

Definitely. The question is, do we want fixed phrases, or a modular set of letters as in Keen 3?

Natural materials such as wood and stone would seem to be the most suitable for the first episode.

Personally I think stone would be better, just because we have a lot of wooden tiles so far.

Speaking of wooden tiles, what happens after lick village and slug village? Are we still going with this grass, dirt, trees theme or something different? From what I understand, Keen ends up in some kind of cave in episode II, so maybe the last levels could be in the mountains.

I think fixed phrases is the way to go, since doing otherwise requires a lot more space and, in my opinion, doesn't have the same lure for translation.

As for what material they're on, it depends on the environment. I think a variety of wooden sign posts and graffiti on rocks would be good.

Rightage, fixed phrases it is. We can figure them out later when we get deeper into level themes.

Ooh, for episode 2 we definitely need some cave drawings.
