I know that we can make a sprite show "shocked" animation and not dying.
So for this one:
Modify tank bot contact procedure to dissolve on contact with keen shot.
Modify keen to die on contact with tanks, but not if they are in the dissolved state.
Write a new procedure to dissolve, stay dissolved, and then reform. Tank bot contact function is set to "dead sprite" during this period.
Finally, modify tank shot to be affected by gravity, and sploosh instead of zap/zot.
It is possible for the game to load as many sprite images as it can store in memory, right?
