For you poor people who can't figure out Modkeen...

Post by Fleexy »

Tomorrow will be a glorious day for you.

I have made a utility that asks you questions, then creates a batch file that does what you want. No, not doing what you want as in giving you a huge marshmallow in the middle of the night, but it does what you want Modkeen to do. I will release it tomorrow because it isn't Keen Day for me yet (I live in the US).

Okay. Follow these steps tomorrow:

1. Make sure {name of utility} is with Modkeen and Keen.
2. Run {name of utility}.exe.
3. Answer the questions.
4. Press any key to quit.
5. Run OUTPUT.BAT.

Modkeen runs! I have tested this. When I release it tomorrow, give me suggestions on what I could do to improve it. I hope this helps!

Just wait until it is Keen Day in my time zone...

BTW, Xky, someone I know calls you "The 'X' Guy" ;-)

Sounds cool. I know how to use Modkeen, but typing in all that stuff annoys me, so I might use this.

Well, if you say "X Guy" quickly, it almost sounds like the right pronunciation. :-P

Firstly, genius, if you're so smart, why didn't you create your own batch file? Surely a Keen-level intelligence could have done this?

Second up, I always suspected Xky had Klinefelter syndrome.

Thirdly, wonderful! It's nice to see someone else programming out there. Sadly, my own Keen day release has run into some insurmountable difficulties. Good job!

I got on Skype with a couple members of another message board years ago (2004?) and they were trying to pronounce my name "X key." :P

Levellass, your comment about Klinefelter syndrome is off-color and rude.

Thanks for making beginning modders' lives a little easier, Fleexy. :)

EZ-MKEEN -- A Keen MINUTE release

Post by Fleexy »

Hooray, the community's first Keen MINUTE release! (At least in my time zone.) EZ-MODKEEN/EZ-MKEEN is the name. You should know what to do from yesterday...

Give me feedback please!

Enjoy,
--Fleexy

P.S.: The "X Guy" thing is getting slightly out of hand...

P.P.S: Keen minute as in 3/14/????, 3:14 ?M

Thanks,

I hope this works well, if it does I'll use it lazy as I am.

I'm so sorry; I honestly didn't think anyone would know what it was, it was just a little nurse in-joke.

(Stupid phpBB likes to mark posts as read, even before I noticed they were there...)

I actually have done this. But it was still annoying to make the file, initially.
Also, I never create a batch for exporting graphics, only importing. Otherwise I risk overwriting all my hard work... So I have to do that every time I start a new project.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but it's not really the first. I'm sure there have been others from previous years.
Also, this year on deviantART, a couple of us posted Keen-related pictures at exactly 3:14*, Green-Bay time. :-)

*Except Galaxieretter, who decided to post it several hours later.

The lesson here: Aim for Mort Minute, it's less crowded, and is a clean quarter past!

G314, I couldn't imagine not using custom batch files, I have my overwriting ones ask me if I'm sure before they run, and I can make them backup, move or alter my work when I use them. They're invaluable, but I guess others may beg to differ.

Um, I'm working on my own Keen 4-6 utility? It works command line, batch file and text file so should cover all the bases.

*Hem.*
