1. Explain. 2. Probably possible... ask Xtra. 3. Also probably possible 4. This begs the question... why? 5. See LL's collection of falling block patches 6. See above, though maybe not possible 7. Probably not possible. You have to recall that there are very few open slots for special effect tiles (...

That little gem has to do with Windoze not properly emulating sound systems for DOS games Back in the good old days (wow, I didn't just say that, did I?), there were few enough sound cards that applications and games themselves usually included the drivers, rather than referencing some OS API. (In ...

Unless you've got a DOS (Real DOS, not an emulator) machine with Bill Gates's fabled 640K of RAM, don't worry about TSRs. They're programs that work in DOS kind of like device drivers, and they suck up RAM. But, unless you've got a miniscule amount, the problem is with your more advanced OS not allo...

The first release of Keen Y had a psuedo-impossible level: a pit full of push-bots in the green level (it's still there, but avoidable) that you had no choice but to go through. I'm sure lots of people went in, but absolutely none came back out. ;) (Sinde you could get out of in with just god-mode a...

Those numbers have to do with DOS Keenwright not properly wrapping sprites whose values are long enough to slow off the tile that they're on. If you watch closely, you'll see that you're actually seeing some part of the long sprite you just placed (or scrolled past). Toggle the grid on and off to g...

No. The flame is not a sprite. No animated tile is a sprite---they're just that, animated tiles. The silouetted tiles are masked tiles. AFAIK, there's absolutely nothing you can do to screw them up, though they may begin to look sort of wierd. I do have to admit, this is a very wierd bug. Whenever I...

Start with some debugging. You can ascertain that the problem is with the way Modkeen imported the graphics, rather than the way Keen decompressed them, by copying everything to another folder and reextracting the graphics with Modkeen. If they come out mangled, it means that the problem is indeed w...
