You can now grab the collection of all of the tiles from here:

http://files.keenmodding.org/cktiles.zip

There's lots of other stuff there, too, several of which don't seem to be linked to from anywhere.

Cool! I am reading though the docs now - I decided that for once I would read through ALL the docs of a program before I started using it. I *almost* got beat over the head by sticks until I realized that what you were saying about batch files was true. ... Okay, just a couple things to suggest so f...

Kind of beat me to it. :-) Thanks for these, sorry about the email issues, they were 100% my fault. I love your angry explanation of the LZW compression. Over the course of my life I've tried several times to implement it in various programming languages, but working at the bit level has always made...

SHIT. I didn't have my MX records on my domain set up correctly. I wonder how long they've been that way - I wonder how many emails I've missed. Fuck fuck fuck. This is annoying and embarrassing. Cock ass bitch tits, etc. Sorry, this is really irritating me. :-/ edit: Well apparently, some emails ha...

Haha, I just made a post over in that other thread before reading this. Well, depending which post you read first, you either know or do not know that I am planning on creating a collection of file-format reference articles on my website. http://www.bipship.com/articles Currently all I have done is ...

Nothing that exciting at the moment, unfortunately. I am going to try to get some sort of Keen file format reference going on my website but updating Mindbelt to read the graphics directly is not way high on my to-do list currently, but it is there somewhere.

Okay, here is a brief run-down of the Keen Vorticons level format. At the top level, we have a dword (four bytes) giving the length of the uncompressed data (in bytes), followed by the rle-compressed data. The rle algorithm used in the level files is pretty simple. A word of xFEFE means that the nex...

It's so simple!
  1. Give tulip faulty patches.
  2. Claim they look okay to you.
  3. Ask for entire directory to try and figure out what's going on.
  4. Auction off the files individually.
  5. Retire to a private island.
Levellass, we are so on to you.

Yeah, it's a bit of bandwidth, but it doesn't actually come out to that much. 1 gigabyte = 1 dollar. 10 megabytes = 1 cent. The page is less than 700k, which means that each time someone runs that script, it costs me .07 cents, which does add up, but not very fast. In any case, if this starts costin...

Well, a preliminary version is done. All it does is show you the tiles in the levels in Keen 3, currently. Check it out here: http://www.bipship.com/automapper/automapper.php Peek at what's in the directory here: http://www.bipship.com/automapper/ Look at the embarrassing source here: http://www.bip...

Xtra was ingenious, as far as I can tell he kept the tileset as an image, and the level tile plane, then simply 'jigsawed' individual tiles into a larger image. No wonder it broke. Yep, yep. I remember reading in some faq thing "How can I get maps for my mod on Spatang? / You have to send me a...
