If you can decompress the maps once, then substitute an 8-bit huffman table, like Biomenace uses for its sounds, then you'd not need to compress the maps at all and could edit them to your heart's content.

Now who was it who was editing Keen sounds?

I have a copy of the registered version, and the format's not that different, only slightly more compact. (E.g. the start screen is stored as tiles not as a separate file.) Good luck trying to edit these; I've been trying for years to figure out the format. (Although A Keen dreams tile info would be...

I'll do it, LLa is moving house with her new husband.

*Tut tuts*

Indeed, this needs a total revamp!

That should be impossible since none of the graphics were changed. Does the original Keen 3 work? If so, just copy in the levels and you should be fine.

If it is the levels causing the problem, congratulations, you've found a whole new type of error!

Well, this is the result of my work on them; they're not too complex sprites to generate, though I don't know how hard they'll be to code. http://levellord.toxicsheep.com/Index/Keen3/Telleporters.txt If you have any questions not covered by that little summary, I can try to answer them as best I can...

You also need to do linkable teleports (Perhaps using the same red lines as teleports and bridges in level. It's easy enough to figure them out manually, but it'd be good to have a shortcut.)

That's the slow way, yes. Take a look at the origional map to get some idea of what's needed.

Well, it seems Mindbelt can't do these things (But probbably will be able to in future editions.)

In the meantime I can set up any teleporters or blocking sprites you might need if you wish.

Xky: Mindbelt doesn't do adding *s to sprites (Or at least it didn't when I got it.) Shik: This file explains how Keen 3 teleporters work, they're reasonably complex. http://levellord.toxicsheep.com/Index/Keen3/Telleporters.txt (Nice to see another dutchman on the forums as well; Keen seems to attra...

Don't forget that level specific blocking tiles can be placed too, though I'm not sure mindbelt does this automatically (For Keenwright it was x* to place a level block where x was the sprite number. It actually works out [In hex] as -x)

It seems you missed my post at the bottom of the previous page. I notice that this happens a lot, the last post on a page is skipped if a new page is started.

Xky missed it too, so I'll ask again, how he hell do you tell what planes are being edited in TED5?

Xky, what on earth is a BFI and how do I use it? I assume it's some sort of indicator? Ted5 is tried and tested, it's versatile and has had to be to accommodate the various games it's made over the years. If this editor is a clone of it, I doubt anyone will mind. It sounds in fact like it could be T...
