Modding theory sounds like a fun new forum. However, there are a lot of subforums right now, and there'd still be a lot after this proposed revision. What about a Level Editors one that encompasses both Vorticons and Galaxy Editors, or there could be separate Vorticons Level Editors and Galaxy Level...

After this, I'm leaving the community. What. I hope the recent allegations of "lol what a spammer" etc etc on That Other Keen Forum aren't causing you to bail; you're a great addition to the community. So assuming this leave isn't for personal issues or something (and perhaps even if it i...

I'm greatly interested in it - aside from it being pretty useful on its own, it'd be a great boon to me since I'm working on adding the ability to save levels into any format (TPT3, TED5, K:N) in TOM and thus also wouldn't mind seeing the source (yes yes I know it's in Basic).

Well it took way longer than I had planned, but release seven is up. Not too much in the way of new features (those are 'coming soon'), except now you should be able to add and delete all levels with no errors and (big news!) the load-time is now actually actually down to TPT3's (Yes this means I to...

Nooooooooooo! Although you've made some seriously fast progress so far, there are always bits of trouble and/or some lack of motivation when modding - it's completely normal to not want to work on the project sometimes. That said, why don't you just try to take a break, see how you feel about it in ...

Here you go: http://files.keenmodding.org/tileinfo.zip If you're planning to use slopes and/or multiple tilesets, though, give DrKylstein's newish Tileset Tool a whirl: http://keenmodding.org/viewtopic.php?t=1309 (And I've always wondered: Why the heck was it KR who posted this instead of Andy?) That's what I'm already doing! No carmackization involved at all, hence the the 'trying to decarmackize when not actually carmackized' problem that's since been rectified. Loading up an already-saved gamemaps file is substantially faster compared to the original, but it's still at least a 10+ second...

Okay, I've done a lot of optimization of the loading routine and fixed the aforementioned 'trying to decarmackize when not actually carmackized' thing in release six , so it is at least slightly faster in starting up, but it looks like we're nearing the limit of just how much time can be sliced off;...

CKPatch has built in commands for level names and entrance texts: %level.name [insert level number] [insert the name here] %level.entrance [insert level number] [insert the entrance text here] You may have to fool around with new lines (add a $0A at the desired break point) if your message is too lo...

Excellent, hopefully this means I will be able to move away from the rather horrid WDC which I've used in my previous modding endeavors. Is it really necessary to include all the sounds already extracted, though? Can't the program extract them already? (And it would cut down on the bandwidth, too, a...

What is slowing it down so much? Basically? Decarmackizing levels. This is be why TED5 keeps a maptemp file. Yeah, pretty much this. I know a maptemp-esque file would be quick, but that's a rather less-than-ideal solution. I can definitely see areas where the current approach can be optimized - I h...

Haha, yeah, but I'd much rather have it actually be faster. :-P And no, I'd say this isn't even close to being done with all the features you guys have suggested/I'm hoping to add. This release was mainly for the docs so that people unfamiliar with TED5/TPT3 will be able to understand its maybe-init...

Release Five is done. This now has the 'view only active planes' mode you mentioned, Tulip, but not much else is new - this is mostly just polishing it up - fixing bugs, adding the help file and the spiffy icon (thanks to Herry Jerry for making it).

Wait what, Tulip. All the planes are already handled separately just like in TED5/TPT3 - use [1], [2], [3] to toggle the activity of back/fore/info respectively to toggle their activity. Same goes for visibility (this uses [4], [5], [6] though). And as for copy/paste, I've already implemented those,...
