Text Patches: Cheats, Machines, Map, Status Screen and Menu
Here are some miscellaneous text patches that deal with cheats, machines, the map, the status screen and the menu that might be useful. I apologize if these have already been posted; I didn't find them when I did a search, and they're not at the patch index. Here they are: #CHEATS #Cheat code text %...

Editing the Loading Screen
This patch lets you change the text in the top box (the title and copyright notice) on the loading screen (the one with the purple boxes) that appears as soon as you start the game. Here it is: # Replace the loading screen %patchfile $20D5C loading.ck5 Then, put the following into a text file, and s...

All I was trying to do was change the title and the copyright notice. This patch isn't for changing the colors of the text (I think that is what the unreadable characters are); it's for editing the text itself. I tried to find an ANSI editor that would allow me to edit this screen, but I had no luck...

Editing the Loading Screen
Wow, my first patch! I apologize if this has been posted before; I didn't find it when I searched the forum, nor did I see it at the patch index. This patch lets you change the text in the top box (the title and copyright notice) on the loading screen (the one with the purple boxes) that appears as ...

Thanks for your help! I've already got XVI32 and the dump files and am now looking up the addresses of other patches to see how they work/what they change. This is why Andy made the Keen 4 disassembly, so the uninitiated could see where things are and how they work. What is this, and where do I find...

How are Patches Found?
I am wondering how patches are found. I know how to make patch files and use preexisting patches, but how do I find new ones? Take for example the patch that makes Keen unable to stomp yorps in Keen 1 %patch $18A5 $90 or the patch that makes Keen shoot slugs in Keen 4. %patch 0x000305A8 0x40 0x01 0x...
