Re: AdLib Sounds

You don't want to use Audacity to copy and paste them into separate files? Not ideal but possibly the quickest solution.

Re: Levellass' Softdisk Library page helped hack fax machines

No I haven't been to the conference as international travel is such a pain. It was quite an interesting talk, and although I haven't used a fax machine for many years either, as they said in the talk, many larger companies (at least here in Australia) still have one available. Makes me wonder what t...

Levellass' Softdisk Library page helped hack fax machines

Hi all, Just briefly stopping by to let @levellass know that the ModdingWiki page on the Softdisk Library Format that is predominantly her work just showed up in a DEFCON video on fax machine vulnerabilities . Turns out it's possible to send a fax to vulnerable fax machines and from that alone, take...

You could try DRO Trimmer to remove delays at the start and end of the recording.

If you skip Camoto Studio and the other libraries, and only compile libgamecommon then libgamemusic, then you won't need libpng at all and you'll get the gamemus utility.

Using channel 0 definitely won't cause problems with Keen 1. It's very, very easy to lose OPL instructions when capturing in DOSBox, so that's probably quite likely if your source is from a capture. This is because sometimes games set the instruments way before the music actually starts. DOSBox is s...

Anyone still have these old ckpatch/dn1edit files?

Hi all, I've added a couple of websites to archive.shikadi.net as I think they are worth preserving and have otherwise disappeared off the web. Unfortunately however a couple of the files included on the sites were never archived online or by myself, so I'm wondering whether anyone here might happen...

Crystal Caves does it by having an air generator you have to avoid shooting or the player suffocates. Although the trick there is that it *doesn't* move, so it's easy to forget about it and hit it when you are shooting at something else.

Not sure whether it applies on this forum but most require at least one post, just as an anti-spam measure. So the bots probably post once or twice assuming that's enough, without actually bothering to check if there's a limit or what the limit is. I've seen some forums where you can't post a link u...

Trying to avoid being flagged as a spambot, while increasing its post count until it's high enough that it's allowed to post links to external sites.

There's an alternate download available on the Camoto Studio GitHub releases page, perhaps that will work then?

I've created some instructions to help explain the map editor a bit - see Getting Started with Camoto Studio.

I'm not sure a mirror would help - if your browser won't let you download .exe files I don't think it matters where they come from!

New Camoto version (v1.2 / 2015-02-21)

Hi all, I realise this is technically off-topic as Camoto doesn't edit Commander Keen (yet) but I hope it's of enough interest that you will excuse me :-) I just wanted to mention that I have released an updated Windows version of Camoto ( v1.2 / 2015-02-21 installer here ) for anyone who is interes...

SGA text-mode font

Hi all, I'm not sure I've seen this done before in a mod, so if anyone is interested in a bit of a gimmick, I've designed an SGA font for VGA text mode. This allows you to change the glyphs displayed during the opening and ending parts of the games, like this: http://www.shikadi.net/pckf/keen4_intro...
