Sounds like the patch needs some adjustment as it won't work out of the box. You're always supposed to delete the brackets before you use it, but also change some values in the brackets. There should be a description of the bracketed values and what they mean on the page you found the patch. If you ...

"Scrolling" text in Keen 1 textboxes
Would it be possible to make the text in Yorp messages appear slowly character by character like the Vorticon endings or the Mangling Machine cutscene in Keen 3? I think it's a really neat effect and works much better with long pieces of text than if we had it appear all at once.

I'd like Keen to go through his death1 -> death2 animation once (animating slowly, also just like enemy sprites), then freeze in the death2 frame (or even better - disappear after it) without flying up and off the screen.
