If you're starting a project it's (now) a simple matter to patch the enemies and such so that all enemies and even things like items can be given 3 levels of difficulty. But doing so on a nearly completed project requires redoing all the enemy placements.

A surprisingly tricky thing to figure out. I have no idea what that means. In general smart flag placement can allow the patch above to work without any issues. Since you control the map any foreground tiles that make the flags look odd can be moved or altered with relative ease.

What patching have you already done? It'd be a large but relatively simple patch to simply rewrite the Status Screen code more efficiently, which should allow the things you require to be added in, Keen 1 does the same thing in essence with the keycards and whatnot.

By 'bounces 2x quicker' do you mean it changes its bouncy ceiling-floor thing twice as fast, or that it moves through the air twice as fast?

It appears not, I have a small program that looks for calls to code and it doesn't seem to have found any. This isn't foolproof, it's only rough, but it seems you're in the clear there.

This patch has beaten me. I thought it might be possible but I cannot make it work. I can get Keen's shots to move diagonally easy enough, I can make it so if the up and right arrow keys are pressed the shot moves up-right for example, but I have been unable to insert a new shooting action into the ...

A negative number will work, IF it is early enough in the code that a backwards jump is impossible This is used for several sound calls for example. So does your jump give a sensible result if it's negative? If not it should work going forward, otherwise we can just swap out a behavior of, say the V...
