I've been trying to find this tutorial ever since this forum was started, and I finally found it by chance tonight. It hasn't been updated in over 3 years, but it's still the best site for this kind of stuff:

Ah, yes. I remember this one... I came across it many, many times over the years looking for gamedev resources. Many useful tips and tricks to be found.

Mmmm, been there, done that, got the complementary pixel, sld it on eBay.

If you want to do good sprite art, all you need is a good idea and plenty of determination.

I can't imagine how much that author would want to strangle me after my mosaic-mod {XkyKeen3}...

Interesting tutorial. I've never been any good at pixel art. It's so different from ordinary drawing.

I don't think he'd strangle you, Xky. There were several things (like not using true black for any background items) that you used very successfully. In fact, for 16 colors, he'd probably post a couple of screenshots on his site if he was still updating it.
