Re: How to modify graphics in your own mod?

@CommanderSpleen is there somewhere a tutorial for the inkscape techniques you were mentioning?! sounds like an interesting way to create pixel creatures and stuff. talking about Linux: do you have any recommendation on MIDI program to manipulate or even create tracks from scratch. Re: New Musics

the IMF Creator is more or less for converting MIDI files into IMF files (which the Keen games requires). you could instead use this tool over here: http://www.shikadi.net/keenwiki/MIDI2IMF for composing songs there are many MIDI music programs out there. I know that some people over here use FLStud...

Re: Lieutenant Barker Sprite

for a moving sprite check the Netkeen project:
http://www.shikadi.net/keenwiki/NetKeen

other than that you can simply export it from the one of the The Universe Is Toast (MOD Trilogy) games by Ceilick.

Re: How to modify graphics in your own mod?

Could always try creating the sprites as scalable vector graphics in Inkscape and then exporting them at the required resolution for the Keen engine. oh, I haven't thought about that... interesting. is this actually the way you're "spriting" enemies and other creatures? I was always wonde...

Re: How to change dimensions of an enemy?

ok, the hitboxes (ingame) of the Wormouth look something like this: https://s19.postimg.org/h51ybu403/ck4patch_000.jpg depending on which sprite you have replaced, you want to make sure, to change the Y-coordinate of the second set of brackets (in your 4sprites.txt file). this value determines how f...

Re: How to change dimensions of an enemy?

like Fleexy mentioned it before, it's really a matter of trail-n-error. for a deeper understanding of how things work, please make sure too read the following section of the tutorial with care:

(off topic: @Xky , thanks that you've made the latest state of XkyKeen4 available to the community. as a matter of fact I'm about to integrate parts of it in my newest modding attempt. here is a sneak preview (ProYrop is working with me on a little redesign to make it fit into the theme): http://i66...

Re: Treasure Eater Patch

you have read Ceilicks Tutorial, haven't you?! it's important that you understand the patching basics in order to alter the behavior of sprites. second there is a big collection of existing patches on the KeenWiki. simply type Patch:Treasure Eater into the search bar to look for patches that might r...

Re: How to modify graphics in your own mod?

another solution could be to tryout a more "up-to-date" graphics editor. for eg. Gimp (which is free and is open source btw) or Photoshop . when spriting, I'm using layers, manipulation tools plus some little automated/macro scripts which can be setup. but I wouldn't recommend to start you...

[...] When I get that error (by setting my EGAHEAD.CK4 read-only), it doesn't include "Secret of the Oracle", and that text doesn't appear in my MODKEEN.EXE at all. Please try downloading the ModKeen package I linked and see if anything changes. Possibly relevant: the KeenWiki article on ...

@Szemigi:
I know that you are not yelling. big letters just give this impression, even if you don't mean them that way. that's why I was asking you in the first place, only to prevent unnecessary misunderstandings.

Re: Scancodes: Key used for F10 Cheats

I was thinking: why not change the key which is used for the quit menu as well. this could give me some liberty in the button arrangement. so for the next step I'm looking for a patch (since I cannot discover anything related), which changes: the dialogue from "PRESS Y TO QUIT" into "...

Re: Keen 4 - Oracle Janitor, Dort patch (updating), second skypest, unused Keen sprite, Council Page

@Szemigi kindly I'd like to ask you, to lower your "writing voice". huge bold red letters pretty much give the impression of demanding and shouting at people. I'm sure your intention was to only underline and stress a certain argument. you might even be a bit impatient. time... such a scar...

Re: Scancodes: Key used for F10 Cheats

ah, I see! thanks for the explanation. even if I can't read those words, I still can feel 'em... as I tried it before I did everything quite similar but missed the doubling aspect. why on earth do I have to double the values? everything else is pretty much self-explanatory, thanks to the wiki sectio...
